sunrise national park dwingelderveld Drenthe

set the alarm early to photograph the sunrise on the dwingelderveld a national park in the Netherlands in the province of Drenthe, about 15 minutes drive for me so the ideal place to go. many moors, large fens and beautiful landscapes and wild nature.

before the light was gone through the bushes and puddles with a pocket light looking for the right position, it was -2 and during the day the sun would shine so that indicated that it might be a beautiful sunrise.

the sun came up a little bit and the colors started to appear. I heard everything around me that is quite exciting in the dark, but I knew beforehand that a lot of sheep roam free on this part and they are just curious.

the tripod in place and found a nice spot through the mud. luckily it had frozen that night and everything was a bit frozen. but with the redbrick shoes I came through this dry and warm.

when the sun came out and the sky got beautiful colors I quickly took some pictures, because the rise is very fast and once the sun has broken through, the most beautiful thing is already over.

beautiful colors as you see on my camera screen. almost no editing is needed here. but my current camera and lenses fall short here in the dark moments. an update of camera from panasonic does not give me the upgrade I am looking for. I would have to switch to the S series. but this system is very expensive and the lenses for landscape photography are very expensive and the choice is not very large yet. a telephoto lens such as a 70-200 is also very large and heavy in combination with an s1, so maybe soon a completely different brand and system that can fulfill my wishes. but more information about that as soon as possible on my Instagram when the time comes.

details in the dark parts are very difficult to capture with an m4/3 sensor, not that this is always much better with a full frame or apsc sensor, but also the option of cropping afterwards with a larger sensor with more megapixels is slightly easier. my current brand Panasonic, which I have been using since 2011, nowadays focuses for 90% on the videographer and I have been waiting too long for a camera especially for the photographer with ok video capabilities.

while shooting I always look around for interesting things in the landscape, as now behind me actually the sky started to get even more beautiful. the wind dropped a bit and I was therefore moved quickly and was able to photograph beautiful pastel colors with a reflection over the water

this location will pass by more often this year, during the day but also with the sunset, this is also planned soon.
